Robert (Bob) Ammon Mullins, age 92, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab in Black Mountain, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Ammon Mullins (1991) and Helen Hughins Mullins (1981); brother Joseph Lee Mullins (2023); and spouses Betty Masterson Mullins (2008) and Audrey A. Mullins (2022).
Bob is survived by his daughters Susan Mullins Sanders of Blacksburg, VA and Amy Roberta Allen of Black Mountain; two grandsons, Joseph Brooks Neff and Grayson Wood Neff of Black Mountain; stepson, Tom Smothers of Goodview, VA; stepdaughter, Suzee Caldwell and husband Tim Caldwell of Roanoke, VA.
Bob was born on September 6, 1930 in Roanoke County, VA, Bob was a graduate of Jefferson Senior High School in Roanoke, VA. He retired from Equitable Life Assurance Company after living in Richmond, VA and Matthews, NC. After his retirement, he returned to Roanoke where he spent most of the remaining years of his life.
As a young man, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and going to dances at the YMCA. He worked hard to provide a good and loving home for his family. He enjoyed growing a garden and trying something new with each season. In later years, a favorite weekly activity was getting together with friends to share a meal or celebrate a birthday.
He spent the last months of life in Black Mountain, NC, under the loving care of his daughter, Amy.
A service is planned for Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, VA.
