Robert “Bobby” Joseph Tolley, 63, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on January 20, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Haywood County, NC, on October 29, 1962, to the late Harry Tolley and Arberta Floyd Tolley.
Bobby was a proud graduate of Owen High School, Class of 1981. He then attended AB Technical Community College and obtained a Associates Degree in Welding and obtained several more certifications for CNC. He found joy in the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and shooting—and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the History Channel and Mountain Men.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Terri Tolley of Black Mountain, NC; his children, Joey Tolley (Rosa) of Asheville, NC, Chrissy Pressley (Sean) of Marion, NC, and John Tolley (Kristie) of Black Mountain, NC; his special brother, Roland Tolley (Carolyn) of Swannanoa, NC; his brothers, Jimmy Tolley of Old Fort, NC, Sam Tolley of Black Mountain, NC, and Harry Jr. Tolley of Atlanta, GA; 13 grandchildren; 3 great‑grandchildren; special friends, Yogi McElreath of Swannanoa, NC, and David Glenn of Black Mountain, NC; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home on January 29, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist on January 30, 2026, from 2:00–3:00 PM, with a graveside service beginning at 3:30 PM.
