Ronnie Wayne Ward, age 56, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at his residence.
Ronnie was born on August 14, 1966, in West Virginia, to the late Levi Olon Ward and Beverly Collins Ward.
He graduated from Charles D. Owen High School and worked as a prison guard at Craggy Correctional Center in Asheville and Western Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain.
Ronnie served his country proudly in the United States Navy and during that time, he was on a nuclear submarine. He was a big history buff and loved reading books and watching movies that had to do with US history. He also enjoyed playing video games and going fishing. Ronnie was a great brother, a loving son, and a good friend. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Ward; and a sister, Denise Rose.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his two God-children, Alan and Alissa Ward, both of Cary, NC; five sisters, Linda (Rick) Ammons of Black Mountain, NC, Brenda Bartlett of Mooresboro, NC, Barbara Rozelle of Cary, NC, Connie (Barry) Stahl of Rougemont, NC, and Jessie Ward of Cary, NC; a brother, David (Karen) Ward of Asheville, NC.
A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions in Ronnie’s memory be made to one of Asheville’s animal rescue missions as he was a lover of cats and had rescued many through the years.
