Roy Gerald Neighbors

Roy "Jerry" Gerald Neighbors, age 78, of Arden, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Valley Hill Health and Rehab in Hendersonville, NC.

Jerry was born on December 17, 1945 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Richard and Willie Jones Neighbors. He was an US Army Veteran and worked many years distributing magazines for News Group and TNG Retail. Jerry was a member of Arden Missionary Baptist Church where he led his church choir. He enjoyed spending his time golfing and singing in the Fairhaven quartet.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Violet Mae Neighbors, sisters, Hattie Lou Miller, Brenda Fowler, Joanne Shepherd and Gloria Sharpe; brothers Tommy Neighbors and George Neighbors and son Donald Hunter. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Angie Britt and her husband Barry of Arden, NC and Teresa Harwood and husband Barry of Swannanoa, NC; granddaughters, Ashley Gunter and husband Devin of Fairview, NC, Brooke Taylor and husband Cody of Fairview, NC, Cami Mclaughlin of Fairview, Cassie Harwood of Swannanoa, NC and Carolyn Hunter of Marshall, NC; grandsons Austin Hunter of Hendersonville, NC and Shawn Harwood and wife Heather of Skyland; brothers Bobby Neighbors and wife Peggy of Asheville and Autry Neighbors of Greer, SC; sister Claudette Watson of Asheville; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Arden Missionary Baptist Church, 2568 Hendersonville Rd, Arden, NC 28704 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Arden Missionary Baptist Church at 11 AM. Burial will follow service at Mount Olive Church, 736 Town Mountain Rd., Asheville, NC 28804.
