Sarah Elizabeth Brown Frizsell, age 90, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center, in Fairview, NC.
Sarah was born on November 11, 1932 in Buncombe County to the late Dollie Savannah Waters (2003) and was loved and raised by her step-father, the late Thomas Leroy Ray (1958).
She was retired from her jobs as custodian at AC Reynolds High School and site manager of the Buncombe Co. Council on Aging in Weaverville.
Sarah had an out-going personality and she loved being around people. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cracking jokes and making people laugh. She was very talented and enjoyed making crafts, sewing, quilting, doing embroidery, and crocheting.
She also loved watching western movies and John Wayne was her favorite, as well as listening to country music. She loved her furry companions, her dogs, and pets that she had throughout her life. But most importantly, she loved her family dearly and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Norman Frizsell (2015); her first husband and father of her daughters, Earl Kenneth Chambers (1966); a brother, Howard Ray; and two sisters, Addie Mae Hardy and Alice Peterson.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Debra Cox and husband William Bailey of Swannanoa, NC and Geraldine Ballew of Asheville, NC; a step-daughter, Vicki Moore of Weaverville, NC; a step-son, Rick Frizsell of Fairview, NC; three grandsons, Tanner Frizsell of Fairview, NC, Jason Frizsell of Inman, SC, and Earl Williams of Candler, NC; and four brothers, Thomas Richard Ray and wife Shirley of Fairview, NC, James Ray and wife Beverly of Hendersonville, NC, Jack Ray and wife Diane of Candler, NC, and William Ray and wife Wilma of Fletcher, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC, 28711, conducted by Pastor Kevin Toupes.
