Sherry Romeesa Pritchard Hensley, 85, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at Bear Mountain Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on February 20, 1941, to the late Charles Julius Pritchard and Estelle Brigman Pritchard. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Pritchard and Sam Pritchard, and her beloved grandson, Nicholas Hensley.
Sherry graduated from Erwin High School in 1959 and later earned her business degree from Blanton’s Junior Business College. She spent several years as a Tupperware sales representative and devoted much of her life to being a loving homemaker. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Sherry loved to sing, cherished quiet moments with her Bible, and found joy in cooking, chocolate, and time spent with her family.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Kenneth Robert Hensley; her children, Jeff Hensley (Cecelia) of Oxford, NC, and Joel Hensley (Amy) of Candler, NC; her sister, Alexia “Kay” Pritchard of Asheville, NC; her grandchildren: Christopher Hensley (Amanda) of Belmont, NC; Alexander Hensley of Johnson City, TN; Cole Hensley (Mackenzi Stephens) of Manchester, OH; Jaxon Hensley of Candler, NC; Molli Jones (Daniel) of Inman, SC; and Dalli Fortney (Kain) of Waynesville, NC; and her great‑grandchildren: Daniel and Eve of Belmont, NC, and Axton, Ashton, and Aceton of Manchester, OH.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 AM at New Bridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with a graveside service beginning at 12:30 PM at West Memorial Park. Dr. Brian Buckner and Dr. Jeff Hensley to officiate.
