Susan Faith Israel, 68, of Candler, passed away peacefully at her home the morning of March 15th, with her daughter Betsy and family by her side.
Susan was born on February 13, 1957, in Brevard, NC, to the late Kenneth Davidson Israel and Jewel May Baldock Israel.
Susan graduated in 1980 from Mars Hill College with a degree in home economics.
She taught high school in Jacksonville, FL, before moving to Ulm, Germany, for two years, where she taught GED and Cooking classes. She lived in many places, including Alabama and Oklahoma, and eventually settled down in Candler, NC, with her family and daughter.
A devout lover of kangaroos and flamingos, she loved reading, flowers, Geocaching, animals, knitting, sewing, adventuring, learning, Harry Potter, and all things beautiful and weird. She also volunteered many hours leading Girl Scout troops, Bible school classes, working as Judge for elections, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Daniel Lee.
She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Watson; her brother Timothy Israel and his wife Ann; her nieces and nephews: David, Alicia, Michael, Justin, Emily, Timmy, Harley, Sawyer, and Mayleigh; she also holds a special place for her chosen family Drusilla, Michael, and Zoe Dykes; her in-laws Tommy, Sandra, Thom, Laurie, and additional special friends and family.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
