Tamela Jo Gurley

Tamela Jo Gurley, age 57, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully, on Monday, November 13, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Tamela was born on November 18, 1965, in Yancey County, NC to Barbara Huskins Gurley and the late Timothy Joe Gurley. She attended Fairview Baptist Church and worked for AC Janitorial in Brevard.

Tammy was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a free-spirited person who loved to be outside and in tune with nature. She also enjoyed gardening and reading in her spare time. Most of all, she loved her family dearly and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her father, Tammy was preceded in death by her brother, Herman Randall Gurley.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Barbara Gurley of Asheville, NC; boyfriend, Lewis “Diamond” Josey; a son, Daniel Martinez and his wife Rachel of Canton, NC; three daughters, Candace and Barbara Martinez, both of Hendersonville, NC and Briana Faloon and her husband Noah of West Virginia; two brothers, Joey Gurley of Asheville, NC and Tim Gurley and his wife Carrie of Iowa; and 20 precious grandchildren she loved so much.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 1 PM at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, 4784 Seven Mile Ridge Rd, Burnsville, Nc 28714, with Reverend Billy Mitchell officiating.
