Tami-Lu Barry, age 55, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC after a courageous, eight-year battle with cancer.
Tami-Lu made her debut on August 22, 1968, in South Bend, Indiana, and was the precious daughter of Paula Nelson. She grew up and became a self-employed artist, singer, actress, and clothing designer. She was so very talented and a highly intelligent lady. Her uniquely detailed and colorful art pieces were shown to be in the pop surrealist and mixed media artistry, as well as displayed in her upcycled clothing designs.
Tami-Lu was a very vibrant and colorful person, and she had a big personality. She was such a joy to be around. She would light up the room with her enthusiasm and positive outlook on life. She always left people feeling good and certainly uplifted their spirits.
She truly lived life to the fullest. Some of the things Tami-Lu enjoyed doing in her spare time were roller skating, singing, dancing, socializing, working puzzle books, playing games, and bingo.
Tami-Lu was a person who was young at heart, always her authentic self, and just a genuine, loving, kind, and caring soul. She was and always will be considered a “gift” to all who knew and loved her. She will forever be deeply missed and always fondly remembered with a warm smile.
Tami-Lu was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ruth Bradley in 2020.
In addition to her mother, Paula Nelson, of Swannanoa, NC, those left behind to cherish her beautiful memory are her beloved son, Jade Napier of Asheville and daughter, Jesse Barry of Canton, NC; and her precious little kitty friend, Lula.
A Celebration of Tami-Lu’s Fabulous Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
