With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Hampton Copeland, of Swannanoa, who peacefully transitioned home from Mission Hospital on August 7, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on March 15, 1948, Thomas was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dedication. Following his military service, he went on to work at Textron/Swannanoa Machine and Tool for over 40 years, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength, and steadfast loyalty.
Thomas had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life—hiking, fishing, hunting, and especially his love of shooting, all of which brought him both peace and camaraderie. Spending time with his grandchildren in his later years was one of the greatest joys of his life.
He is survived by a loving family who will carry his memory forward: his brother William Ralph Copeland Jr. (Winnie), sister Cynthia Copeland Snyder, daughter Sarah Copeland, and grandchildren Carlin, Sariah, and Jocelyn Littles. He also leaves behind his niece Brooke Wines, great-niece Kelsey Wines, great-nephew Heath Wines (Haley), and many dear friends who were like family to him.
Thomas was a man of quiet dignity, enduring loyalty, and a heart full of care for those he loved. You could always count on him for a smile and a good laugh. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Service arrangements are to be determined, and the family will share details at a later date.
