Tommy Eugene Burrell

Tommy Eugene Burrell, 75, of Swannanoa passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

 Born May 24, 1949, in Buncombe County, he was a son of the late George and Margaret Burrell. He was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School and was employed at Beacon Manufacturing Company for 34 years. Of his many enjoyments in life, playing softball for Beacon’s team, playing and watching most sports, and showing devotion to his Lord were among his favorites. However, spending time with his family was certainly a top priority for him throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Jim Burrell, and granddaughter, Ariel Grace Burrell. Surviving are his spouse, Sharon “Sherri” Burrell; children, Tonya B. Wilson and her spouse, Bryne, of Fairview, Wendi Pegg and her spouse, Bill, of Marion, Stephanie Ledford and her spouse, Derrick, of Marshall, and Travis Burrell and his spouse, Kristiana, of Fairview; siblings, Wanda Hurst of Black Mountain, and Nancy Hare and her spouse, Donald, of Arden, grandchildren, Cortney Sherer and her fiancé, Michael, Christy Testerman and her partner, Kevin, Candace Pegg and her spouse, Jake, Katie Pegg, Sawyer Parker, Spencer Parker, Ian Burrell, Trent Burrell, Christian Burrell, Scotlyn Burrell, Sloan Burrell, Bailey Calloway and Bill Pegg, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Zacharie, C.J., Lydia, Kinslee, Kayleeann, Parker, Jocelyn and Aurora.  

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Spring Mountain Baptist Church, 11 Spring Mountain Road, Fairview, NC 28730, with Reverend Donald Hare, Reverend Rick Harris, and Reverend Marc Shumaker officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
