Valerie H. Lewis, age 93, of Swannanoa, NC went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, July 30, 2021 at her residence in Swannanoa, NC, surrounded by her loving family.
Valerie was born on May 21, 1928 in Buncombe County to the late Harley Hampton and Gay Brown Hampton.
She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Asheville.
Valerie was a wonderful homemaker and loving wife and mother of six children. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, and working crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved her family and loved being a mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Troy Lewis; son, Pat Lewis; grandson, Travis Wright; two brothers, Truman and Wayne Hampton; and a sister, Wilma Allen.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Tony (Nancy) Lewis of Etowah, five daughters, Wanda Lewis of Asheville, Brenda Lewis of Old Fort, Deborah Edwards of Marshall, and Vikkie (Marty) Metcalf of Asheville; grandchildren that she raised, Mark Lewis of Swannanoa and Tonya (Bobby) Amaker of Inman, SC; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Parkway Baptist Church, 3 Campground Rd., Asheville, NC 28805, conducted by Pastor Randy Young.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the church and burial will follow the service at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
The family would like to thank all of the following special people for the wonderful loving care that they gave their mother: Debbie, Jackie and Eric who were her awesome Hospice Care Team, and Dr. Anne Parker, who was her wonderful primary care physician, and Brittany Kuck, PA at Asheville Cardiology, and Hal, who was her RN at Asheville Cardiology and the entire team at Four Seasons Home Care in Hendersonville.
