Walter “Grady” Arrington, Jr., age 80, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.
Grady was born on March 30, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Walter Grady Arrington, Sr. and Grace Milwood Arrington. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from his job as a truck driver for Gennet Lumber Company in Fletcher, NC.
Grady was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He was a strong-willed man and a very hard worker. He was a talented carpenter and loved to work with wood. He like to make cutting boards, shelves, and what nots. He enjoyed collecting model trains and knives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Arrington; a brother, George Arrington; and a sister, Lillian Hart.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Grady Arrington and Charles Arrington and his wife Mary, both of Swannanoa, NC; a daughter, Peggy “Annie” Arrington, of Swannanoa, NC; two sisters, Margie Lytle and Ollie Mae Allen and her husband Robert, both of Swannanoa, NC; two grandsons, Charles Arrington of Asheville, NC and Joseph Arrington, of Oregon; four granddaughters, Grace Arrington of Asheville, NC, Liza Prestwood and her husband Bryan, Swannanoa, NC, Joyce Arrington of Morganton, NC, and Audrey Arrington, Asheville, NC; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Grady's life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC, 28711, officiated by Pastor Randy Gregory.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM.
