Wayne Nicolas Clausen Sr., of Swannanoa, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on November 11, 1940, in Albany, New York, Wayne was the son of the late Nola Eggleston Clausen and Nicolas Charles Clausen. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Norma; his brother, Jim; and his grandson, Nicolas.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964. During his service, he was stationed at 8th and I in Washington, D.C., where he served as a Ceremonial Guard and was a member of the prestigious Silent Drill Team. He later served as an Artillery Surveyor at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
Following his military service, Wayne founded Clausen Instrument Company, where he applied his skills and entrepreneurial spirit. He was also a passionate youth soccer coach, dedicating many years to coaching both girls’ and boys’ teams and positively impacting the lives of countless young athletes.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Nancy Clausen; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Charles; his estranged son, Wayne; six grandchildren; and his sister, Phyllis (Jack), along with a niece and nephew.
Wayne will be remembered for his service, his dedication to family and community, and his lifelong commitment to mentoring and guiding others.
