Wayne Adams Jones

Wayne Adams Jones, age 84, of Swannanoa, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Wayne was born in Buncombe County on February 16, 1940 to the late Horace William Clyde Jones and Matilda Ann Warren Jones. He was a Baptist and enjoyed spending his time fishing, watching old westerns and reading the bible. Wayne was most content spending his time outdoors or with his loving family. He proudly served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents Wayne is proceeded in death by his baby daughters, Penny Elizabeth Jones and Shelly Lynette Jones; sisters Elizabeth Jones, Ann Brown and Mary Penland; bothers John Jones and Walter Jones. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Delsie Merita Pressley Jones; daughter Diane Allen and husband Duane of Fletcher, NC; son Nick Jones of Swannanoa; brother Buddy Jones and wife Brenda of Leicester, NC; sister Beverly Dodd of Candler, NC;

grandson Levi Jones of Swannanoa; granddaughter Kendall Jones of Swannanoa and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 2 PM at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 with Reverend Jim Page and Reverend David Pressley officiating.
