William "Bill" Laws Obituary

William "Bill" Dennis Laws, 81, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025 at his home. Born November 25, 1943 in Union, SC, he was a son of the late J.C. Laws and Buelah Russell Laws.

 He was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School and received an associate's degree from AB Technical Community College in Cabinetry. He retired from US Gear and Tool previously Micromatic Textron, and was a member of Bee Tree Christian Church. Of his many enjoyments in life, gun target practice, fishing, coaching the youth in Little League Baseball, dabbling with classic cars, and spending time with his beloved family were among his favorites.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings James and Donald Laws. Surviving are his loving spouse of 42 years, Kaye Pellom Laws; children, Kaytie Hutchins and her spouse, Michael, of Old Fort, NC, and Patrick Laws and his spouse, Beth, of Candler, NC; brother, Gene Laws of Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Carter Hutchins of Old Fort, NC, and Carson and Abby Laws both of Candler, NC; stepson, Matt Thomas and his spouse, Emily, of Leicester, NC; and nephews, Lee Laws and his spouse, Emily, of Black Mountain, NC and Jonathan Laws of Morganton, NC.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Bill's team at CarePartners Hospice McDowell for the care they showed and to all the friends and family who have called and checked in on the family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 in the Chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Ave., Swannanoa, NC 28778 at Noon.
