William "Bill" Audrin Sammons

William Audrin Sammons, 62, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was born August 11, 1962, in Ashland, KY, the son of Cliff Payne of Ashland, KY, and the late Amanda Faye Pirkle.

He was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School class of 1980. Of his many enjoyments, casting a line in the river to entice a trout to bite, coaching his children in baseball when they were little, and cheering on the University of Alabama athletics program were among his favorites.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his children: Thomas Sammons and his spouse, Makenzie, of Brevard, NC, Samantha Edwards and her spouse, Gus, of Nebo, NC, and Cody Sammons and his spouse, Hannah, of Fairview, NC; siblings Keith Pirkle of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rachel Russell of Ohio, and Jason Payne and his spouse, Lisa, of Ashland, KY; and grandchildren Peyton and Roman Sammons and Roy and Emma Edwards.
